JLS SCAR Barrel Swap

respond

A quick video of how to remove the inner barrel and hopup unit from the JLS SCAR. The hopup for the SCAR is identical to many M4, M16 and other AR series airsoft guns. SCAR provided by Airsplat.com

  1. Cool Nice vids 6mm I love your quality and layout of your insturctions (unlike other people) 5/5
So is the little nub on the hop up attaced to the hop up chamber? its somthing different from other hop up units.
also people while you are at it get a new hop up chamber and bucking i recomend
King arms hop up chamber (if it is a v2 style hop up chamber) and a Madbull shark x hop up bucking and a nub.

  2. I can’t get the video to work. A little popup comes up and says I have to do something ???

  3. Heeyoung – the nub is not special or attached. Just pointing out what it looks like and where it should be inside the hopup unit. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!

Kyle B – You may be seeing a Flash/IE bug that requires you to “approve” the Flash before playing it. Does this happen if you visit Blip.tv or other sites with Flash embedded video?

  4. ya the same thing here. it says ERROR: NO FEED and it says i have to approve the feed or something. ive never seen it before

  5. This is a really good one. Nobody on forums makes guides on hop up because it’s relatively easy. However, most people don’t know exactly how to do it.
I didn’t know i had to pop that thing off. Only problem i’ve had is that my hop up unit was tight and the bucking wrinkled. thank god for silicon lube!

  6. My hop-up bucking wrinkled, but I eventually got it off with some twisting. I noticed a small tear on the end where it covers the barrel. Will this part need replacement?

    by Jacob July 19th, 2008

  7. Jacob, I would recommend you do replace the bucking…it acts as an “air seal” and could cause you to have reduced FPS/performance.

  8. two thumbs up thanks 6mm for new knowledge..

  9. How do i get the hop up nub back in place?

    by Westin January 11th, 2009

  10. @ Westin, you can use anything from a small screwdriver to tweezers to position that part back inside the hopup unit. To keep it from rolling out as easily, I cheat a little with some silicon gel, it’s my #1 hold it in place fix-all.

  11. Hi Guys!
I just thought I would include an article about how to improve accuracy. This is pretty much all you can do to improve accuracy.
    PHYSICAL CONSISTENCY
1- Use an EdGI 6.01mm with porting barrel or 6.00mm bull barrel with porting. Prometheus and PDI are the other top dogs, and Tanio Koba are also very nice for 320 fps and under. JBU is the lower cost option. Remember, the longer the better!
    2- Use a SCS spacer
3- Systema Black Bucking (guarder transluscent also works well)
    4- High Quality BB’s
VIBRATIONS AND MOVEMENT THAT OFFSET ACCURACY
5- Improve Gun body/ hop unit/ barrel- inner and outer connection and solidness (no room for movement)
A- Confirm that there is no inner barrel wobble
B- Confirm that inner barrel is very snug inside outer barrel
6- Use Second Skin Damplifier to stop vibrations in hop unit and barrel (STS Unit may cause vibrations to affect accuracy to a small degree). Sorbothane pads will also help.
    7- Improve FPS Consistency-
a- do steps on “How to: Improve Airseal”
b- Ball bearing spring guide/ piston head
c- Broke in PDI 190% or less
d- Higher quality hop unit (accurate hop adjustment which doesn’t go out of setting easily)
e- Piston goes back same distance each cycle
    A. Don’t short stroke piston
    f- Higher quality bb
