  1. I have a question regarding a problem with the gearbox of the
mp5 models. If the gun could only fire fully automatic, even on semi, is there a way i could fix it?

    by C July 2nd, 2008

  2. Yes. The problem typically has to do with the selector plate or trigger electrical components – but it can be repaired.

  3. This brings back so many painful memories of my mp5 days. I think the hardest part is getting the lower receiver screws in without a magnetic screwdriver.

anyway, thanks for both the disassembly and the reassembly.
they’ve helped me quite a bit.

  4. where can I get silicone gell? (or silicon)I’ve tried harbor freight, home depot, the local hardware store, west marine and wall-mart. everyone gives me the same “what the?” look, and then tries to sell me sealant, not lube. Please help.

  6. Can you make some videos of installing tightbore barrels to some of the guns, such as mp5, m4, and g36c?

  7. Hi, I found this website by accident and I’m glad I did, I just would like to know is the disassembly and reassembly the same for a JG? I have two one has a ris system and the other is an SD6. Both gearboxes are v2. I appreciate all answers and opinions, because I am on a team and this would realy help out

  8. Wow guys, AWESOME guide. I just successfully disassembled the gun, lubed the mechbox, and reassembled the gun on my TM MP5A4. Even with the slight difference, your guide was very straight forward and I was able to do it despite NEVER having taken this gun apart before. Thanks so much!

  9. First off, I have a (not so stock anymore) UTG MP5. I recently upgraded the gearbox to a slightly more powerful set, but I’m having an issue now. (With the battery charged/plugged in, of course) When I pull the trigger on any of the firing modes, i can feel the motor click, but then stop, and it does not fire, nor does the gearbox mak any sound. I have checked the gear mesh between the motor and the box, and all is well. Any ideas?

  12. hi mechbox.com i have an mp5 a5 ras rail made by echo 1 and victer arms and i was wondering how to get a motor back in the gun

by Rhonda Bergman October 22nd, 2008

  13. This works with JG Mp5A4 except you do not have the nut with the hop up fall out.

  14. Is it possible to replace the Mechbox in the MP5-J with a mechbox from an MP5k? I believe the J has a Version 2, and the k has a Version 3. I wanted to buy a possibly broken MP5J and replace the internals with my k version (minus the inner barrel and what not), because my k versions body is getting a little worn out and old. Please let me know if its possible or if I am just an idiot for coming up with the idea.

  15. its a newbie question is JG and Marui identical inside and out?

    by Xavis December 27th, 2008

  16. I installed an upgraded spring (Prometheus MS110 SP) on my TM MP5J. Stock battery (8.4 volt battery) won’t fire the gun more than 20 shots. Is this normal?

  17. Maybe a video on the Echo 1/Galaxy/TM mp5k?

  18. Can you make a video on the MP7?

  19. i have a question regarding the motor, i shot it and the motor got hot, so how could i fix this problem.

by derek dimaggio March 20th, 2009

  20. Hi Al,
If the gun just locks up and makes a clicking noise (or used to but stopped), then that means that either your battery is too weak or overcharged, someone did a bad job on shimming, or the motor is a bad one and almost dead.
If all these are done correctly, then the gun should work.

PS- If you used to hear a clicking noise, and don’t anymore, then your fuse has blown. Replace it, look for a higher power battery, and fire the aeg to decompress the spring. If the mechbox still won’t fire, examine the motor and reshim. However, you have to decompress that spring before opening the mechbox case or else- explode! So, just use a paperclip and make a hook on one end. Then, tug on the anti reversal latch through the pinion gear hole until the piston is making contact with the cylinder head (spring is decompressed).

  21. Hiya 6mm, I was attempting to install a CA M4 V2 mechbox in my ICS Mp5, I’m noticing its very difficult to install in the handgrip (Where the selector and tigger is housed).

Why is that? Is there a major difference thats keeping me from installing correctly?

    by Wunder April 16th, 2009

  22. Hi i was just wondering if you could break down the ICS MP5A4 like this. I was also wanting to get a collapsible stock so i wanted to rewire the gun to take the battery in the foregrip. Is this possible with the ICS MP5A4?

by steven sickler May 3rd, 2009

  23. The ICS MP5 is loads easier to disassemble. You basically just pull the pins and slide the lower receiver out. Rewiring is exactly the same as on the video we did for the V2 box.

  24. hi,
    i havew an mp5 sd5
i have one huge problem that is really bugging me,
my hop-up does not work on my gun the lever is not changing anyhting, does anyone ahve any suggestions.

    by sam May 10th, 2009

  25. Hi sam!
Is your bucking in your hop unit?
Is the nub in place so that the hop arm pushes it down into the bucking?
Do you see the bucking being pushed down through the barrel if you turn the hop up unit to more hop?

    by erik May 17th, 2009

  28. Excellent tutorial.

Can you do one with a barrel upgrade for the MP5?

    by Josh May 31st, 2009

  29. I need to know how to reset my gearbox, because every time i press trigger it makes clicking sounds, the gun is only a week old. I heard that on top of the gearbox there is a hole were you can insert a pin in, and it will reset. If that is true, is there a way you can remove the little top part the one after the rear sight, the one you can kind of push in. My battery is charged and connection works, my mag is feeding, my trigger is working. IF anyone got an answer email me at dankal1230@yahoo.com

  30. what’s wrong with my mp5? i followed the steps but at the end my gun wont even fire, i think something in the gearbox. somebody help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    by Kuri June 13th, 2009

  31. Thanks for the vid my mp5 is a cyma but it is the exact same. I needed to do some tuning inside the gear box because my gun was shooting to hot for the field I play at so I got into the gearbox and clipped a few coils on the spring and put it back together unfortunatly I didn’t really know what went where so I guessed and it didnt fire. so if you guys could make a video of the inside of the gearbox and where every thing goes that would be great.

  32. I recently used these guides to fix a minor electrical issue, but I may have caused a larger one. My gun has started shooting inconsistently. It will fire a couple times weakly and not fire at all, randomly. I think is has something to do with the hop-up, but I’m not sure. I found that I was missing a screw and bought a new one, this helped but did not solve my problem. It was sold to me as a Echo 1, but I was told that it was not. What could be wrong?

  33. hello, i recently discovered that my JG-MP5A4 shoots full auto even when clicked into semi auto…its very annoying and i was wondering how i could fix it…thanks

    by braden August 25th, 2009

  34. Hello, I completed the reassembly and the only problem I am having is that after I take one shot on semi auto, the gun locks up requiring me to switch to safety and then back in order to fire the gun again. Why is this?

    by Moop September 25th, 2009

  35. i agree with austin lewis you should do a break down of the hop up unit and the barrel assemblyn. or how to install a tightbore barrel

  37. Hi, I have a SD version of this weapon and was wondering if there is anything fundamentally different in the reassembling?

    by Erik October 27th, 2009

  38. Hi, i am not the first to ask but i really need to know, is this the same for a JG mp5? if not what are the differences????

    by HaydenPutre November 6th, 2009

  39. why is the video not working???? i have a Mp5 on the table in pieces, and i need to know how to get a small black piece back into the rifle.

    by Alex November 7th, 2009

  40. egnore my previous comment, its working now….finally

    by Alex November 7th, 2009

  41. to Peter, I would say you could do it as there an M4 and Mp5 both have the same V2 Gearbox so the only thing i would see to be changed would bw the selector switch, the selector switch rod and/or the selector plate. Experiment for the best fit and length.
